My name is Nate Mitchell & I am the owner of Blue Lake Cleaning. My wife Erica, my son Dawson & I live in beautiful Chardon, Ohio. We have two dogs Telli (Bernese Mountain Dog) & Ellie (Boxer) with a few chickens in the backyard.
Before there was Blue Lake Cleaning…
I went through Kent State Police Academy in 2013 and quickly started a career in law enforcement at Fairport Harbor Police Department. Fairport PD was a good stepping stone to achieving my goal of working for the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office. I grew up in Geauga County so it was a good way to give back to the community that helped shape me into who I am today. In 2014, I was honored to be sworn in as a Geauga County Deputy by Sheriff Dan McClelland.
At Geauga County Sheriff’s Office (SO) we worked a 12-hour shift and had lots of time off work. I started to wonder about opening a side business that could be scheduled around my law enforcement career. I always enjoyed detailing cars and feeling satisfied with the results. After talking to several people in the community, we found a need for carpet cleaning.
I was lucky enough to call a local cleaner who was a certified cleaning and asked him for training. The owner, Scott, took me under his wing and taught me everything he knew. I then went on to get certified through the IICRC (Institute of Inspection and Restoration Certification).
In 2016 my wife, Erica, and I decided to take the leap into the cleaning business. The first step was to pick the name. We knew we wanted to incorporate the color blue in the logo or name as a symbol of a police-friendly company. One day my wife and I were enjoying Lake Erie and we said what about Blue Lake?
And so it began, Blue Lake Cleaning it was.
The goal was to create a first responder based company to help take care of all police, fire, nurses, doctors, and military. A company that can be trusted without hesitation that we will do the best job with the highest quality equipment. We shifted our core values from law enforcement to our cleaning company…
